Shell

Walking across the Big cottonwood Creek through the wood shell structure extended off and over its concrete form represents beauty and simplicity. Hugging by woods, passing the rhythm of the shell, present the heart concrete core, tough but ruined. Inside the ruined heart made from casted plaster shows unspeakable, complicated, and rough texture in contrast to its shell. The experience is the combination of the feeling of difference in texture filtering by the leaves and the flowing river.

The SHELL pavilion is located to the southwest of the nature pre-school TREE HOUSE as the observatory space for visitors, away from the moment to think and feel deep inside their own thoughts.

The elevation and section of the pavilion shows scale relative to the visitors. The wood structure acts as a bridge, tall and fresh, contrast to the dense and compact heart of concrete block.

Plan shows different scale of the 8 x 8 feet concrete structure in the site context across the big cottonwood creek.
